The Off-Road Legacy Continues

Toyota debuted the latest generation of the Tacoma last year, kicking off the midsize pickup's fourth generation with much fanfare. The 2025 Toyota Tacoma returns in 2025 with the same great features to continue the truck's dominant off-road legacy.  

America's Best-Selling Midsize Pickup

The 2025 Toyota Tacoma is set to become the best-selling midsize pickup in America over the last two decades. Although much of the Tacoma's features remain the same as those of the 2024 model, it does gain some choice upgrades. For example, convenient red tow hooks now adorn the TRD Pro and Trailhunter models. It also gets a fourth available auxiliary switch and a new TRD Pro color called Mudbath.

With the 2025 Toyota Tacoma, buyers have the choice of two strong powertrains. The standard i-FORCE 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder delivers up to 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque while staying efficient with up to 26 MPG. The optional engine is the i-FORCE MAX hybrid, which features 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

i-FORCE models also offer a six-speed intelligent manual transmission. This transmission features rev matching and stall avoidance technology for those who love to drive.

Overlanding with the 2025 Toyota Tacoma

The Tacoma has long been a favorite for the overlanding community, and this time, Toyota has fully embraced this by offering the Trailhunter model. The Trailhunter comes exclusively with the i-FORCE MAX engine and offers either five-foot or six-foot bed sizes. It includes a host of standard equipment like 2.5-inch forged monotube shocks by Old Man Emu and 33-inch Goodyear Rugged Terrain tires.

 Along with a model aimed at overlanding, Toyota is also gearing a model toward the Baja-style racing set with the TRD Pro. This truck also comes exclusively with the i-FORCE MAX engine and standard IsoDynamic Performance Front Seats. Standard equipment on the TRD Pro includes TRD-tuned adjustable internal bypass shocks by FOX and 33-inch Goodyear tires with 18-inch wheels.

Ready to Roll At Every Level

Most models with the i-FORCE MAX engine come standard with 4WD. Limited trims have full-time 4WD. A 2WD Tacoma is also available. The 2025 Toyota Tacoma uses the same sturdy truck platform as the Tundra, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia. A big leap forward for the latest Tacoma is its fully-redesigned coil spring multi-link rear suspension. This is available on most models and improves the overall ride and handling.

 Each trim of Tacoma comes with a suspension that's specifically tuned to its purpose. For example, the TRD Sport features responsive sport-tuned shocks, while the TRD Off-Road is equipped with monotube remote reservoir shocks to allow extended wheel travel.
